Mac OS X Lion Available for Download

Just a quick post to let you know (that is, in case you missed it) that Mac OS X Lion is NOW available for download from the Mac App Store !

Be patient, as Apple's servers seem quite overloaded...

Oh, and don't forget to backup before starting the upgrade...

  3. Hi,

could you please give a statement about the general usability of your Realtek NIC driver with Lion? There are reports that the adapter is not visible in the network pref-pane while it is obviously loading and / or completely not loading, etc... any kind of "official" statement from your side regarding lion compatibility?

    Thanks!

  4. @Anonymous: RTL81xx works perfectly on Lion... If used with supported NICs ;)

  5. I've been using 10.6.3 since last year and was afraid to upgrade for fear of messing up my system. I just now upgraded from 10.6.3 to 10.6.8, and then to LION (via xmove) and everything went smoothly and it all works perfectly, even with my PS2 keyboard.

The only kext you'll need for 10.6.8 and 10.7 is the AppleHDA.kext from 10.6.3! And it works just fine in conjunction with the old Legacy889aHDA.kext.

To boot faster, move all your extensions from /Extra to /S/L/E and add UseKernelCache=Yes to your boot.plist file.

I built my 'Perfect Hackintosh' with the info I found here and couldn't be happier with the results. I just love this blog!

  7. I have noticed that drop down boxes freeze up when using them a few times on webpages when using Safari 5.1. I have to refresh the web page in order to get the drop down working properly. It also happened on this web page with the "Comment as:" drop down. I was editing my post a few times and when I went to re-click my "Comment as:" ID, the drop down froze up. Luckily I saved my comment in a text editor and then re-loaded the page. Do you know why Safari 5.1 is giving drop down boxes trouble? Thanks.

  8. @galactica-actual: Weird... Unfortunately, I have no idea why this happens...
Is this only in Safari ? Or on other apps/browsers too ?

  9. I am only seeing this on Safari 5.1. Perhaps its related to Web Kit and Sandboxing.
